Smiles, Surf, and Shared Waves: TANDM Surf Demo Day Brings Families Together at Linda Lane

This past weekend, the sun was shining, the waves were rolling, and the beach at Linda Lane in San Clemente, CA came alive with laughter and stoke. TANDM Surf hosted one of its signature TANDM Bodyboard Demo Days, drawing excited families who came to experience the thrill of catching waves together—many for the first time.

From toddlers to teens, moms to grandpas, the shoreline buzzed with excitement as pairs lined up to try the innovative TANDM inflatable bodyboard—an award-winning design that allows two people to ride a wave at once. With built-in handles, a soft inflatable surface, and a buoyant shape that helps with stability, the TANDM board makes wave riding approachable, safe, and—most importantly—fun.

But beyond the gear, it was the shared moments that stood out. One of the most heartwarming scenes of the day came when a father and his young son geared up for their first-ever wave. With wide eyes and nervous laughter, they paddled out under the guidance of a TANDM team member. The board glided smoothly, the handles giving them something solid to hold onto.

A small set rolled in—and with a push from behind—they were off.

Cheers erupted from the beach as the board cruised to shore. The boy’s laughter rang out across the sand, and his dad beamed, water dripping from his hair as they high-fived and tumbled into the shallows.

“That was the best wave of my life,” the dad grinned. “And I got to share it with my son. I’ll never forget that.”

Scenes like that played out all day long—parents and children, siblings, best friends, all taking turns catching waves together, many for the first time. For those who had hesitated to try ocean sports, the soft design and built-in stability of the TANDM board helped ease nerves. Within minutes, hesitant faces turned to confident smiles.

The team at TANDM Surf makes it a priority to bring boards directly to local beaches through their Demo Day events. “It’s about sharing the joy of the ocean with people who might not otherwise get the chance,” said Juju, CEO of TANDM Surf. “Seeing families bond over that first wave—that’s what drives us.”

Demo Days like this aren’t a one-time event. TANDM Surf frequently hosts them across Southern California, building community and spreading the joy of tandem wave riding. Whether you’re a complete beginner or a water-loving local looking to ride in a new way, these events are open to all.

If you missed this one, don’t worry—there are more to come. So grab your sunscreen, bring your sense of adventure, and get ready to ride some waves—together.

Stay tuned to TANDM Surf’s social pages and website for the next Demo Day near you. Because the only thing better than catching a wave is sharing it.
