Family Uses TANDM Surf Saddles To Enhance Their Backyard Pool Parties

At TANDM Surf, we’re all about finding fun ways to help people get on the water with friends and family. While we’re most well-known for our tandem body boards and surfboards, we offer some other fun products as well. Our current favorite: the TANDM Surf Water Saddle.

The Wilson-Mudds are big advocates of the TANDM Saddle. Rena, Brandon, and their son Gordon (7) reside in San Juan Capistrano, California and regularly take their saddles out in their backyard pool. They use them so often, in fact, that the family built a case to hold and display their surf saddles.

The DIY project involved a pallet mounted to the wall to serve as a holder for their collection of surf saddles. That way, when they want to use a surf saddle, they’re easy to access and re-stow once they’re finished in the water.

“I use them all the time for when I just to chill and swim with Gordon but maybe not be all the way swimming,” says Rena. “I’m able to be in the water with Gordon but just float and relax. Sometimes I’ll throw another one in the water and put my drink of choice on top of it.”

Although Gordon is a strong swimmer, he enjoys using his surf saddle in the deep end of the pool. Lately, Rena and Gordon have been playing catch in the water and their surf saddles have made the game even more fun.

Recently, Brandon won a getaway to Margaritaville in an auction. The family packed up their surf saddles and headed to San Diego for a weekend of fun, splashing and playing in the pool and were glad to have their favorite pool toy along with them.

The Wilson-Mudds love sharing their surf saddles with their friends. Their DIY holder makes them easily accessible and when they have pool parties, they always make sure they’re out and ready for their guests to use.

“They’re fun for the kids and the adults,” says Rena.  “You can be in the water and socialize—the kids play on them, and the adults hang out on them.”

On Saturdays, the Wilson-Mudds go horseback riding. After a fun morning, they transition from one saddle to another when they jump in the pool to cool off on their surf saddles.

The possibilities for the surf saddle are endless. Rena plans to incorporate hers into her workout routine and maybe even try floating in the ocean. But for now, she’s happy for the fun memories she’s creating with her family atop her surf saddle.
